How papayacreative.co is built to work for everyone, the options you can switch on, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.

Our commitment
Papaya Creative Studio wants papayacreative.co to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard referenced by Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and we test changes to the site against it.
Accessibility options on this site
Every page has an Accessibility button in the bottom-left corner (the person-in-a-circle icon). It opens a panel where you can:
- Text size: enlarge the whole page to 115%, 130% or 150%.
- High contrast: stronger text, borders and outlines, with backgrounds made plain.
- Readable font: switch body text to Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for low-vision readers.
- Text spacing: add space between lines, letters and words.
- Highlight links: underline and highlight every link so they stand out from the text.
- Stop animations: pause motion, scrolling effects and background video.
- Big cursor: a larger mouse pointer.
- Reading guide: a bar that follows your pointer to help you keep your place.
- Focus outline: a bold outline around whatever your keyboard has selected.
Your choices are saved in your browser on this device only. They're never sent to us, and Reset all clears them.
How the site is built
- A Skip to main content link is the first thing you reach with the Tab key.
- Every page has a single main heading, headings in order, and labelled regions (header, navigation, main content, footer).
- Menus, tabs, forms and pop-ups work with a keyboard. Esc closes menus and panels, and focus is always visible.
- Form fields have visible labels and clear error messages. Errors are announced to screen readers.
- Text and interactive elements meet AA colour-contrast ratios.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns its animations off automatically.
- Pages reflow to a single column on small screens and stay usable when zoomed to 200%.
Known limitations
- Our concept sites at examples.papayacreative.co are design demonstrations. They respect reduce motion settings but aren't fully audited to the same standard as this site.
- Some older blog images may have shorter descriptions than we'd like. We're improving them as we update each post.
- Embedded third-party content (for example WhatsApp or map links) is controlled by those providers.
